Asparagus Fern


Asparagus Fern (protasparagus densiflorus), Emerald Fern (protasparagus densiflorus cv. 'Sprengeri'), and Foxtail Fern (protasparagus densiflorus cv. 'Myersii') are not true ferns, but members of the Lilly family. Hardy in Zones 9 - 11, Asparagus Fern is a spreading variety about 2" to 3" in height. Foxtail Fern sends out spikes that can reach 2' in height. Emerald Fern sends out arching spikes that can reach 4' in length. prefers bright light, but not direct sun. Note, Asparagus Fern is considered an invasive species. Thorns on the Emerald Fern can cause irritation. Can be used as a house plant or as a groundcover.
