Butterfly Weed

Butterfly Weed (asclepias tuberosa), a member of the milkweed family, grows 2' to 3' tall and blooms from June through October with attractive clusters of flowers. Hardy in Zones 8 - 11. A good attractor for butterflies. The plant has a plethora of alternate names in use (for example wikipedia lists the following: Canada root, Chigger flower, Chiggerflower, Fluxroot, Indian paintbrush, Indian posy, Orange milkweed, Orange Swallow-wort, Pleurisy root, Silky Swallow-wort, Tuber root, Yellow milkweed, White-root and Windroot).
