(08/19/2010) While this Campanula produces spikes of striking lavender blue flowers, it has not done well in the garden. While I expected flowers on 3′ tall stems (much like its cousin Campanula latifolia), most of the stems are nearly 5′ tall. Not only is the plant too large for my garden, most of the stems have fallen over in the wind. My sense is that Campanula primulifolia would do far better in a larger garden where it could receive support and shelter from other large plants.
(04/19/2011) Some times I can be a glutton for punishment. As I was prepping the garden for Spring, I noticed that the Campanula was coming back strong. If a plant wants to put that much effort into a second appearance, far be it from me to stifle its efforts. So, I'm going to give it a second chance - and do a better job of staking.
